British Columbia Ferry Services Inc. (BC Ferries) is one of the largest ferry operators in the world, providing year-round vehicle and passenger service on 25 routes to 47 terminals, with a fleet of 35 vessels. BC Ferries is an essential transportation link that connects coastal communities and facilitates the movement of people, goods and services.
BC Ferries is undertaking a large, complex set of initiatives to enable transformational change in the business operating model of the ferry service. The first phase of this transformation, the ACE (Automated Customer Experience) program, is designed to deliver an integrated business and technical solution in support of an enhanced seamless end-to-end automated customer experience that meets or exceeds desired BCF service beneficiaries needs and expectations. The core component of ACE program is the streamlining of Booking, Ticketing and Check-in services (BTC project).
E-Dea has been chosen by BC Ferries to have a key role in the implementation of the ACE program, thanks to the functionalities and technology provided by his flagship Reservation System, eBooking©, that will bring the BC Ferries Booking, Ticketing and Check-in system to the next level.
The first part of BTC phased project has targeted the definition of business processes and core solution model based on industry proven eBooking© functionalities and best practices. The process has been facilitated by the E-Dea implementation project methodology, improved through years of development of solutions for the ferries industry.
The system is designed to enable BC Ferries to provide targeted marketing and value-add services, establish a strong revenue management approach and enable future implementation of demand management through increased advanced purchase incentives and price flexibility.
E-Dea is working closely with BC Ferries and other vendors on the BTC implementation project.
The future BC Ferries’ business model is expected to significantly improve customer experience, increase business agility, drive increased ridership, optimize revenue and reduce operating costs through demand management.
